Blue, Purple and Green Jump Rope
by Kayla McCord
One cold winter day in New York City a girl named Cassidy was getting ready to visit her new school. She just moved from Columbus, Ohio and is eight years old. Her parents were looking to check out the school. Cassidy is very shy, sweet and she loves ballet.
When Cassidy and her parents arrived at the school, a guide showed them around. Cassidy’s parents decided it was a nice school. When she got home she went straight to her room and began to write in her favorite diary, with little gold and silver tassels. Her entry was sad and this is the last thing she wrote: “…God, please help me to make some new friends.”
The next day Cassidy got up early for her first day of school. Her father drove her to New York Elementary. Cassidy had a hard time finding her room but she finally found it. When she opened the door she was surprised to see that there was only one student and the teacher inside.
Cassidy walked to the teacher’s desk slowly but nicely. The teacher had long blond silky hair that was put into a nice round bun. The teacher looked up and smiled at Cassidy. She introduced herself as Ms. Natasha.
Soon the bell rang. A nice looking girl took her seat next to Cassidy. Her name was Shannon. Later in the day Shannon invited Cassidy to play jump rope. They jumped and talked at the same time. Cassidy told about her life in Ohio and Shannon told about her life in New York.
That night as Cassidy was getting ready for bed she pulled out her diary. She opened her diary to a clean page. She wrote happy things and her last entry was “God, thank you for giving me a wonderful new friend. Help me to be a good friend”
The next day Ms. Natasha introduced a new student named Isabel. Shannon and Cassidy asked Isabel to jump rope with them and she accepted. The three girls went to find the purple and blue jump ropes.
